Answer :-

Given that :-

Initial velocity of car = 50 m/s

Final velocity = 0

Period of constant motion = 10 sec

Period of retardation of motion = 5 sec

• Now retardation of car

from motion equation

v = u + at

0 = 50 + 5a

-50 = 5a

a = (-50)/5

a = -10 m/s²

• Now distance travelled

# When motion was constant

= ut

= 50(10)

= 500 m

# when motion was retarding

From .

S = ut + 1/2 × a × t²

S = 50(5) + 1/2 × (-10) × 25

S = 250 - 125

S = 125 m

So total distance covered

= 500 + 125

= 625 m
