Answer:

Let AB be the distance travel to North and BC be the distance travel to West

so, displacement = AC = 13

Explanation:

so, ABC is a right triangle.

(AB) ^2 + (BC) ^2 = (AC) ^2

(12) ^2 + (5) ^2 = (AC) ^2

144 + 25 = (AC) ^2

169 = (AC) ^2

AC = √169

AC = 13

so, required displacement = 13 ANS

Answer:

The resultant displacement of car is 13 km

Explanation:

By pythagoras theory,

h ^{2} = p ^{2}  + b ^{2}

h ^{2}  = 12^{2}  + 5^{2}

h ^{2}  = 144 + 25

h ^{2}  = 169

h =  \sqrt{169}

h =  \sqrt{ {13}^{2} }

h = 13

Therefore,

The resultant displacement of car is 13 km.
