speed of car in first phase = 20kmph

total distance covered = 300 km

time taken to cover 300 km at a speed of 20 kmph = 300/20 = 15 hrs

speed in second phase = 60 kmph

total distance covered = 300km

time taken to cover distance 300 km at a speed of 60 kmph = 300/60 = 5hrs

then , average speed = total distance covered/total time taken

= 300+300/15+5

= 600/20

= 30 kmph

so the average speed = 30kmph
