From A to B speed = 40 km/hr

From B to A speed = 60 km/hr

Average speed = ( initial speed + final speed ) / 2

                          = ( 40 km/hr + 60 km/hr )/2

                          = 100 km/hr / 2

                          = 50 km/hr

Average speed is 50 km/hr

Hope it helps :-)
