A car travels up a hill at a constant speed of 37 km/h and returns down the hill at a constant speed of 66 km/h. Calculate the average speed for the whole trip​

Explanation:

Define

t1= time spent going up hill .

t2=time spent going down the hill.

Distance going up hill = 35km/h × t1 hr

Distance going down hill = 66km/h×t2 hr

since the distance are equal --

35t1= 66t2

Suppose that it was a really long hill that took 66h to go up.

In this case it would take 35h to go down . The total time taken would be --

66+35 = 101 hr

and

the total distance covered would be

35km/h × 66 hr + 35km/h × 35hr

= 4620km

and

the average speed would be

4620km/ 101hr = 45.74 km/h Ans.
