A car travels with a uniform velocity of 20 m/ s for 5 s . the brakes are then applied and the car is uniformly retarded and comes to rest in further 8s . Draw a graph of velocity against time. Find(i) the distance travelled in 5s. (ii) the distance travelled after applying the brakes. iii) total distance travelled iv) acceleration during first 5s and last 8s.

a)distance travelled is 100m.
b)distance travelled after the brakes are applied is 240m.
c)total distance travelled is(100+240)m=340m
d)acceleration in first five seconds was 0 and retardation in the last eight seconds is 2.5 .
