A Car travels with a Uniform Velocity of 20km/h for 3h.
to North then it stops for 2h after taking rest the car
Changes its direction to South travel with velocity of
30km/h for 4 hour.

》draw according to data given in the question .

b) find the total distance travelled by the car.

》area of V-t graph gives total distance or displacement covered.

》Here in the graph as the car has changed direction, it displacement will get lessen due to negative area in the graph.

》but distance will be the sum of all area magnitude

area of graph= (area of 1st rectangle) + (area of 2nd rectangle)

area = ( 20km/h × 3h) + ( 30km/h × 4h)

area = 60km + 120 km

distance = 180 km.

》area = positive area - negative area

》area = (60 km) - (120 km)

》displacement = - 60 km.

negative sign indicates here that net displacement is in south direction (as we'd considered south as a negative axis)
