A car travels with a uniform velocity of 30 ms-1 for 5 s. The brakes are then applied and the car is uniformly retarded and comes to rest in further 10 s. The distance which the car travels after the brakes are applied is?​

final velocity (v) = 0

time (t) = 10 s

To find

distance (s) = ?

acceleration = change in velocity/time

= v-u/t

= 0-30/10

= -3m/s²

using position velocity relation

2as = -u²

2×-3×s = 0²-(30)²

-6s = -900

s = -900/-6 = 150m
