A car travels with the speed of 40km/h from a city A to the city B and returns back with
a speed 60km/h. Calculate () the average speed of car (ii) average velocity of car.

Suppose total distance is 2x km then
time taken in traveling the distance first x will be t1 = x/40

and the time taken in traveling the distance second x will be t2=x/60


now the average velocity can be calculated as V= total distance/total time
2x/x/40+x/60

=2x40x60/40+60

=48Km/h
