A car waiting at a traffic signal. As it turns green the car starts ahead with a constant acceleration of 3 m/s. at the same time a bus travelling with constant speed of 20m/s overtakes and passes the car.(a)How far beyond its starting point will the car overtakes the bus?(b)What will be the velocity of car at that time?

Answer:Distance travelled by truck in time t moving with uniform velocity 10 m/s

distance = velocity ×time =

d = 10 t

Distance should be equal to the car moving with acceleration 2 m/s2 in time t.

s = ut + 1/2at2

as car start from rest then initial velocity is zero.

10t = 0 + 1/2×2×t2

t = 10 s

distnace travelled = 10×10 = 100 m

velocity of the car after 10 s.

v = u + at

v = 0+2×10

v = 20 m/s
