A car weighing 2000kg and moving with speed of 20m/s is stopped in 10s on applying brakes . Calculate the retardation and the retarding force.

v = 0m/sec
u = 20 m/sec
t = 10 s

a = {v - u} / t
a = {0-20} /10
a = -20 /10
acceleration = -2 m/sec square
or retardation = 2 m/sec square

f = mass × acceleration
force = 2000 × 2
force = 4000 N

ANSWERS = 2 m/sec square & 4000 N
