Given info : A carbon carbon bond has a length of 154 pm if the bond is positioned at an angle of 30° to a surface.

To find : approximate projected length of the bond.

solution : we know, when a vector A makes an θ° with horizontal.

Projection of vector A along horizontal is given by, |A|cosθ

So, projected length of the bond = bond length × cos30°

= 154 pm × √3/2

= 77√3 pm

= 133.37 pm

Therefore the approximate projected length of the bond is 133.37 pm
