As the compound C2H4O2 is capable of converting blue litmus red, therefore it should be an acid.
In organic, generally carboxylic acids, phenols and sulphonic acids are acididc in nature. As the molecular formula does not includes sulphur therefore the probablity of sulphonic acids si negligible.
For phenols, the minimum number of carbon present should be six. Therefore the given compound should be carboxylic acid.
The structure of X is CH3COOH and its IUPAC name is Ethanoic acid.
A) when X reacts with ethanol in presence of sulphuric acid is as follow:-

B) The recation of acetic acid with sodium carbonate is as follow:-
2CH3COOH + Na2CO3 --> 2CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O

Hope it helps !!!

The compound X is acetic acid -CH3COOH.or ethanol

Ethanol in the presence of concern. H2SO4:-- CH3COOH+ ch3ch2oh----> CH3COOC2H5.( In presence of H2SO4).

Acetic acid with sodium carbonate:- CH3COOH + Na2CO3 ------> CH3COOH + co2 + H2O

Hope this helps you.....!
