Carboxylic acid with chemical formula (C2H4O2) is Acetic acid (CH3-COOH):
Ethyl alcohol on oxidation forms acetic acid.
C2H5OH +KMnO4 → CH3-COOH

Carboxylic acids reacts with alcohols to forms ester.
CH3-COOH + C2H5OH → CH3-COOC2H5 (Ethyl actetate)
Therefore X = CH3-COOC2H5
