hey mate

here is your answer...

let the event of getting a spade be A

so,

n(A)=13

let the event of getting an ace be B

so,

n(B)=4

now,

n(A) union n(B)=16

so, the event of getting a spade or an ace is 16

hence, probability of getting a spade or an ace =16/52

=4/13

so,the odds against this bet=1-4/13

=13-4/13

=9/13 (answer)
