Since total outcome=52
i) total spades and ace in a well shuffled deck of cards =13+3=16
P(getting a spade or an ace)=16/52=4/13

Hope it helps

52
The total number of ways to draw a card n(S) = 52.

The total number of spade cards = 13.

The total number of ace cards = 4(But there are 3 ace cards left because 1 ace is counted in spades cards).

Therefore the number of favorable outcomes n(E) = 13 + 4 - 1

                                                                                    = 17 - 1

                                                                                     = 16.

Therefore the required probability P(E) = n(E)/n(S)

                                                                  = 16/52.

Hope this helps!
