Solution :

A card is drawn from a well shuffled pack of 52 cards, find the probability of

i) Red king

→ Favourable outcomes = 1 + 1 = 2

→Total outcomes = 52

→Probability = Favourable outcomes/Total outcomes

→Probability = 2/52

→Probability = 1/26

ii) 2 of diamond

→Favourable outcomes = 1

→Total outcomes = 52

→Probability = Favourable outcomes/Total outcomes

→Probability = 1/52

iii) A black card

→Favourite outcomes = 13 + 13 = 26

→Total outcomes = 52

→Probability = Favourable outcomes/Total outcomes

→Probability = 26/52

→Probability = 1/2

iv) A jack

→Favourable outcomes = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4

→Total outcomes = 52

→Probability = Favourable outcomes/Total outcomes

→Probability = 4/52

→Probability = 1/13

Always keep in mind :

  • Each card has four suites hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds.
  • Each suites have king, queen and jack.
  • Each suites have also numbers from 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and ace.
