After cutting 4cm strips from 2 opposite sides (longer sides),

length= 30cm

width=20-8= 12cm

After cutting 4cm strips from the next 2 sides (shorter sides),

length= 30-8= 22cm

Area of remaining part= l*b = 12*22 = 264 sq cm

Area of strips= 2(4*30)+2(4*12) = 240+96 = 336 sq cm
