A cards is drawn at random from a well shuffled deck of 52 cards. find the probability that the card drawn is– (i) a red card (ii) a non-ace (iii) a king or a jack (iv) neither a king nor a queen.

Total no. of cards = 52
No. of red cards = 26
No. of black cards = 26
No. of face cards = 12
No. of King cards = 4
Similarly no. of Queen, Jack, Ace (each separately) = 4
Total no. of numbered cards = 36
i) P (a red card) = 26/52
ii) P (a non ace card) [Except ace card] = 52 - 4 = 48/52
iii) P (a king or jack) = 4 + 4/52 = 8/52
iv) P (neither a king nor a queen) [Except king and queen] = 52 - (4 + 4) = 52 - 8 = 44/52
