Let the marked price = a

Given, discount = 15% = 15a/100

So, a - 15a/100

       = 85a/100

Selling price = 680, So it becomes 85a/100 * 680

                                                         a = 680 * 100/85

                                                            = 8 * 100

                                                            = 800

Hope this helps!

Answer:

The marked price of a chair is 800.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the marked price of chair be x.

It is given that a carpenter allows 15% discount on his goods and he sell a chair for 680.

SP=MP-15\%\text{ of }MP

680=x-15\%\text{ of }x

680=x-\frac{15x}{100}

680=x-0.15x

680=0.85x

\frac{680}{0.85}=x

800=x

Therefore the marked price of a chair is 800.
