Given :  carpenter has 32 metres of timber and wants to make a border around a garden. 4 Designs are given

To Find  : which all designs can be made

Solution:

For Design A  - Vertical height = 6 m

Horizontal Distance = 10 m

Total Perimeter = 2 ( 6 + 10) = 32 m

Design A can be made

For Design B

Horizontal Distance = 10 m

Vertical height  > 6 m  as perpendicular height is 6 m

( perpendicular height is shortest distance )

Hence side > 6 m

so total perimeter > 32 m

Hence Design B can not be made

For Design C  - Vertical height = 6 m

Horizontal Distance = 10 m

Total Perimeter = 2 ( 6 + 10) = 32 m

Design C can be made

For Design D  - Vertical height = 6 m

Horizontal Distance = 10 m

Total Perimeter = 2 ( 6 + 10) = 32 m

Design D can be made

A , C & D can be made
