Then by Newton's laws of motion

N - mg = ma

N = ma + mg

N = m(g+a)

W = m(g+a) replacing N by W

We can also calculate when elevator is going in downward direction which comes to as

W = m(g-a)

Remember these.

Now, we have given

m= 40 kg , W= 800N and g= 10m/s²
