A CARPET 5 METRE LONG AND 4 M WIDE IS LAID IN A SQUARE ROOM OF WIDE 7M. FIND THE AREA OF THE FLOOR LEFT UNCOVERED​

area of floor = 7^2 = 49 m^2

area of carpet = 5*4 = 20 m^2

area of left uncovered = 49-20 = 29 m^2

Given :

Length of floor is 5m

Breadth of the floor is 4m

So, ( applying ar. l × b )

ar. of floor =4m×5m=20m2. Side of the carpet is 3m

So, (applying ar. of sq. = side × side (s) )

area of carpet=3m×3m=9m2.

To find the area of the floor that is not carpeted or (uncarpeted) we will (-) minus the ar. of floor from ar. of carpet

area which is not carpeted or( uncarpeted ) =20m2-9m2

=11m2.

Hence,the ans. Is 11m sq.
