Required answer:-

Question:

• A carpet is made in length 2m wide. What length is required to cover a floor 8 m long and 5m wide.

Solution:

Given,

Length and breadth of carpet:

Length (L) = ?

Breadth (b) = 2m

Length and breadth of floor:

Length (L) = 8m

Breadth = 5m

To find :

Length required to cover floor

Let,

Length of required carpet be y m

Formulas used :

Area of rectangle = Length × breadth

Step by step explaination-

As length of required carpet is y m.

So, Area of required carpet = 2y m².

Now, we have to calculate Area of the floor.

That is,

Area of floor = ( 8 × 5 ) m² = 40 m².

Area of carpet = Area of floor

Therefore,

→ 2y = 40

→ y = 40 / 2

→ y = 20 m

Length of carpet required is 20 m.

Given Question :-

  • A carpet is made in length 2m wide. What length is required to cover a floor 8 m long and 5m wide.

ANSWER

GIVEN :-

  • A carpet is made in length 2m wide.

  • A floor 8 m long and 5m wide.

TO FIND :-

  • LENGTH OF CARPET

FORMULA USED -

\longmapsto \boxed{ \pink{ \bf \:Area_{(rectangle)} = Length \times Breadth }}

SOLUTION ;-

DIMENSIONS OF FLOOR

  • Length of floor, L = 8 m

  • Breadth of floor, B = 5 m

\longmapsto \rm \: Area_{(floor)} = Length \times Breadth

\longmapsto \rm \: Area_{(floor)} = 8 \times 5

\longmapsto \rm \: \boxed{ \pink{ \bf Area_{(floor)} = 40 \:  {m}^{2} }}

DIMENSIONS OF CARPET

  • Breadth of carpet, B = 2 m

  • Let Length of carpet be 'L' m.

\longmapsto \rm \: Area_{(carpet)} \:  =  \: Length \times 2

So,

  • According to statement,

\rm :\implies\:Length \times 2 = 40

\rm :\implies\:Length = 20 \: m

\longmapsto \boxed{ \green{ \bf \: Length \: of \: carpet \: is \: 20 \: m}}
