A carpet is placed in the room leaving a border of 1m wide all around the room .If the room is 14 m long and 10 m wide find the area of the uncovered part

length of room=14m

breadth of room=10m

length of carpet=14-1-1=12m

breadth of carpet=10-1-1=8m

area of uncovered part=area of room-area of carpet

area of room=l*B

= 14*10

= 140m^2

area of carpet=l*B

=12*8

=96m^2

area of uncovered part=140-96=44m^2
