Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

area of carpet=30*20=600 m^2

area of four strips= 2*30*4 + 2*20*4 =400 m^2

area of overlapping portion of strip=4*16= 64 m^2

area of strip when overlapping strip area is excluded=400-64=336

Therefore total remaining area of carper when strips are cut= 600-336=264 m^2.

Answer:

The area of the remaining carpet = 600m²

The area of the strip cut-out = 600m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Length of the carpet = 40m

Breadth of the carpet = 30m

Area of the carpet = 40m * 30m

                               = 1200m²

After the strip of 5m is cut from all the sides, the length and the breadth of the carpet changes.

As 5m and 5m  is cut from the length  and similarly 5m and 5m from its breadth, the new dimensions become,

Length = 40m - (5m + 5m )= 40m - 10m = 30m

Breadth = 30m - (5m + 5m )= 30m - 10m = 20m

Therefore, Area after cutting = 30m * 20m = 600m²

Therefore, the area of the remaining carpet = 600m²

The area of the strip cut-out = Area of the original carpet - Area of the carpet after cut-out

On substituting the values,

The area of the strip cut-out = 1200m² - 600m²

                                               = 600m²

Therefore, the area of the strip cut-out = 600m²
