a carpet of size 5 m into 2 metre has 25 cm wide red border . inner part of the red carpet is blue in colour . find the area of the blue portion . what is the ratio of the areas of red to the blue portion

LENGTH = 5m = 500cm &
BREADTH = 2m = 200cm.
NOW, 25cm IS THE BORDER'S WIDTH.....
SO, REMAINING LENGTH = 500cm - 25cm - 25cm = 450cm.
AND, REMAINING BREADTH = 200cm - 25cm - 25cm = 150cm.
SO, AREA OF THE BLUE PORTION =
Length × Breadth
= 450cm × 150cm
= 67500cm sq.
NOW,
AREA OF THE RED CARPET =
TOTAL AREA - AREA OF THE BLUE CARPET
= (Length × Breadth) - (Length × Breadth)
= ( 500cm × 200cm ) - ( 450cm × 150cm)
= 100000cm sq. - 67500cm sq.
= 32500cm sq.
AND, RATIO =
AREA OF RED PORTION : AREA OF BLUE PORTION =
 \frac{32500 {cm}^{2}}{67500 {cm }^{2} }  \\  =  \frac{325}{675}  \\  =  \frac{13}{27}
THEREFORE, RATIO = 13:27
