A carrier wave of peak voltage 12 V is used to transmit a message signal. What should be the peak voltage of the modulating signal in order to have a modulation index of 75%?

answer : 9V

a/c to question, peak voltage of carrier wave ,A_c = 12V is used to transmit a message signal.

also it is given that modulation index , \mu = 75%

or, we can say modulation index, μ = 0.75 [ in fraction ]

we know, modulation index, \mu=\frac{A_m}{A_c}

so, A_m=\mu A_c

= 0.75 × 12 = 9V

hence, peak voltage of the modulating signal is 9V.
