A cart and a man move towards each other .the massesof cart and a man are 25 kg and 50kg respectively .The velocity of a cart is 0.2ms .when the man approches the cart he jumps on to it .After this the cart carrying the man requirs a velocity of 0.6ms in the direction in which the man is walking .what is the velocity with which the man was walking...

Answer:

Given that

Mass of man(m) =20kg

Mas of cart(M) =50 kg

Velocity of cart(V) =0.2 m/s

Let the velocity of man=v

From law of conservation of momentum

Intial momentum =final momentum

m×v+M×V=(m+M) ×0. 6

As in final situation man jump into the cart and gain velocity of 0.6 m/s so it will treated as a single body

20×v+50×0.2=(20+50)×0.6

20v +10=70×.6

20v=42-10

v=32/20

v=1.6 m/s ans

Hence velocity of man =1.6 m/s Ans
