So by conservation of linear momentum .....if man(50kg) starts towards right i.e. +i direction then total mass (cart+man)moves opposite to man(i.e. -i or left) to neutralize the resultant linear momentum.

Mathematically,

Note- if cart moves then the man running on it also moves to left
