Volume of the carton is 7/2  cubic ft  if Length  1 2/3  ft , Width  1 2/5 ft  and

Height  1  1/2 ft

Given:

  • A carton
  • Length  1 2/3  ft
  • Width  1 2/5 ft
  • Height  1  1/2 ft

To Find:

  • Volume of the carton

Solution:

  • Volume of the cuboid = length x width x height
  • Mixed fraction a b/c  = (a x c + b)/c

Step 1:

Convert mixed frictions in improper fractions

Length  1 2/3  ft   = 5/3  ft

Width  1 2/5 ft    =  7/5  ft

Height  1  1/2 ft   = 3/2  ft

Step 2:

Find volume of the carton

(5/3)(7/5)(3/2)

Cancel 3 and 5 from numerator and denominator

= 7/2  cubic ft

Hence,  volume of the carton is 7/2  cubic ft
