Concept

Since there are a total 24 hours in a day and the three guards share their duty equally, therefore we will divide the time by 3 and then add the time of clock for the two to see what time the third guard starts his duty.

Given

The first guard starts his duty at 6:00 AM in the morning.

Find

We have to calculate the time of the third guard duty.

Solution

When we divide 24 hours by 3 we get

24/3=8 hours

Which means each guard works for 8 hours.

If we add 8 hours at 6:00 AM we get 2:00 PM i.e. the second guard starts his duty at 2:00 PM in noon. No further adding 8 hours in 2:00 PM, we get 10:00 PM.

Hence the third guard starts his duty at 10:00 PM in the evening.
