a cat on seeing a rat at a distance of 5 m, starts with a velocity u = 5 m/s and moves with an acceleration of 2.5m/s² in order to catch it, while the rat with acceleration b starts from rest. For what maximum value of b will the cat overtake that rat

applying relative motion concept,
let the rat to be stationary and the cat starts with initial velocity (u)= 5m/s and with acceleration = 2.5-b
where b is acceleration of rat. And distance bw them is 5m.
then,
cat will be at rest in our relative frame after reaching rat ,
then applying v^2-u^2=2as,
-25=2×(2.5-b)×5
=> b=5m/s^2.
