Chromosome number will be - 24 for both the phases.

  • Mitosis is the division of cells where number of chromosomes remain equal to the parent cell.
  • Metaphase is characterized by the attachment of centromeres on spindle fibres.
  • Since the seperation of chromosomes occur during the anaphase, the number of chromosomes in metaphase remain 2n.
  • Now after cell division each cell again contains 2n chromosomes.
