Meiosis occur in two phase. In first phase DNA replication occur and amount of DNA becomes doubled without any change in chromosome number and two daughter cell (each 2n) are formed.

Now in stage 2 each daughter cell undergo mitosis with formation of two cell each with half chromosome (n)

Now 2n= 24, n=24/2=12

After meiosis stage 1— two daughter cell each with 24 chromosome

stage 2— each daughter cell form two grand daughter cell each with 12 chromosome

Net result— 4 daughter cell each with 12 chromosome (assuming Cell as diploid cell 2n=24)
