the solution must be hypertonic solution because in this solution a cell shrinks because water goes to lower concentration from hieher concentration

The cell is placed in a hypotonic solution. The solution has less concentration of water so the water from the cell infuses with the solution and the concentration is balancing gradually through the process of osmosis which occurs only in case of semi permeable membrane of the cell.
