Question :

A cement company earns a profit of Rs 8 per bag of white cement sold and a loss of Rs 5 per bag of grey cement soldA.The company sells 3000 bags of white cement and 5000 bags of grey cement in a month. What is the profit or loss and What is the number of white cement bags it must sell to have neither profit nor loss if the number of grey cement bags sold is 64000 bags.

Solution :

A complany sell 3000 bags of white cement and got profit of Rs. 8 per bag.

On the same hand, they also sell 5000 bags of grey cement and got loss of Rs. 5 per bag.

So,

Total profit earned by company during sellingwhite cement bags.= 3000 × 8

=> Rs. 24000

Total loose of the company on selling grey cement bags = 5000 × 5

=> Rs. 25000

Total loss = Rs. 25000 - Rs. 24000

=> Rs. 1000

There is loss of Rs. 1000 for the company.

Now,

We have given that total number of grey bags is 64000 and company got loss of Rs. 5 of bags.

So,

Total loss during sellng ofgrey bags = 64000 × 5

=> 320000

We have to tell the number of white and grey bags that must be sell to have neither profit and loss.

To got neither profit and loss, the amount of profit and loss must be same.

Means, the company got profit of Rs. 320000 on white bags cement and loss of Rs. 320000 on grey bags cement.

And according to question,

Profit on white cement bags = Rs. 8

So,

Number of white cement bag = 320000/8

=> 40000

40000 bags of white cement are required.
