Answers
144÷12=12
sold in 15 per pie piece
3 is profit
3×36=108 is the profit
Given :
- a) A certain brand soap-powder is sold at ₹15 per packet.
- b) It costs ₹144 a dozen.
To find : profit or loss in percent on 8 dozen packet ?
Solution : Now, we know that 1 dozen mean's 12 packets of soap-powder
So, hence
- 1 dozen = 12 packets of soap-powder
From given ( a )
Cost of 12 packets of soap-powder OR one dozen of soap-poweder packets
⟹ ₹(12 × cost of one packet)
⟹ ₹(12 × 15)
⟹ ₹ 180 -----( 1 )
From given ( b ) & ( 1 )
Cost price of 8 dozen soap-powder
packets = ₹ (8 × 144) = ₹ 1152 ------( 3 )
selling price of 8 dozen soap-powder packets = ₹ (8 × 180) = ₹ 1440 ------( 4 )
From ( 3 ) and ( 4 )
We know selling price > cost price
So its a profit
⟹ Profit = selling price - cost price
⟹ Profit = ₹ ( 1440 - 1152 )
⟹ Profit = ₹ 288
Now,
⟹ Profit percentage = ( profit / cost price ) × 100
⟹ Profit percentage = (288/1152)×100
⟹ Profit percentage = ( 1/4 )×100
⟹ Profit percentage = 0.25 × 100
⟹ Profit Percentage = 25 %
Answer : Hence profit is ₹ 288 and profit percentage 25 % on 8 dozen soap-powder packets.
