Given:

A certain electric motor wire that carry current of 5 ampere perpendicular to a magnetic field of 0.8 Tesla

To find:

What is the force on each com of the wires

Solution:

From given, we have,

A certain electric motor wire that carry current of 5 ampere perpendicular to a magnetic field of 0.8 Tesla.

⇒ I = 5 A

⇒ B = 0.8 T

⇒ θ = 90°

We use the formula,

F/l = IBsin θ

where,

F/l = force per unit length

I = current

B = magnetic field

θ = angle between conductor and magnetic field

F/l = 5 × 0.8 × sin 90°

F/l = 4

consider the wire of unit length, we get,

F = 4 N

Hence the required force on each com of the wires.
