The villagers were prohibited from collecting forest produce like firewood, fodder, berries and honey.the marginal farmers who cultivated the forest lands were evicted. ANSWER:

I would open the forest to the farmers.

EXPLANATION:

As a government official tasked with finding a solution to the problem, I would open the forest to the villagers so that they can collect fruits and berries from the trees without harming them.

I would also open the forest to the farmers so that they can cultivate but with the condition that they would have to practice crop rotation and other methods so that the fertility of the soil is not affected.
