Fraction

As it is given that fraction is greater than 2.

Let the fraction be  \frac{x}{y}.

As per question, the denominator is 8.

Hence, the fraction becomes \frac{x}{8}.

According to question,

\frac{x}{8} >2

On solving this equation we get,

x>16

So, for given equation to be true, the numerator must be greater than 16 because as only 16/2 \ is \ 8. These type of word problems relating to fraction can be solved by framing inequalities.
