 \mathbf{Let  \: total \:  number \:  of  \: toffees \:  is  \:  \: x ,}  \\  \\ <br /><br />Hence, <br /> \\  \\ <br /><br /> \bold{ a  \: \: got = \frac{1}{2} × x =  \frac{x}{2} } \\  \\  \bold{<br />b  \: got = \frac{1}{3} × x =  \frac{x}{3} } \\  \\  \bold{<br />c  \: got = \frac{1}{4} × x =  \frac{x}{4} } \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \: ...(i)

Given in question that c gets 6 toffees, So from ( i ), we got

 \bold{ = &gt;  \frac{x}{4}  = 6} \\  \\  =&gt;  \bold{x = 6 \times 4} \\  \\  =  &gt;  \bold{x = 24}

Total number of toffees = 24

Hence,

 \mathbf{<br />a  \: got  =  \frac{x}{2}  =  \frac{24}{2}  = 12 \: toffees} \\  \\ <br /><br /> \mathbf{b  \: got =   \frac{x}{3}  =  \frac{24}{3}  = 8 \: toffees}

Your answer :-

Let the total number of toffees = x

No. of toffees

\textbf {a} got = 1/2

\textbf {b} got = 1/3

\textbf {c} got = 1/4

\textbf {a} = 1/2 \times x = x/2

\textbf {b} = 1/3 \times x = x/3

\textbf {c} = 1/4 \times x = x/4

According to question :-

\textbf {c got 6 toffees}

So,

=> x/4 = 6

Cross multiplication

=> x = 6 × 4

=> x = 24

From this information we can easily get the value of \textbf {a} and \textbf {b}

=> \textbf {a} = x/2 = 24/2 = \textbf {12}

=> \textbf {b} = x/3 = \frac 24/3 = \textbf {8}

=> \textbf {c} = x/4 = 24/4 = \textbf {6}
