Let the unit digit be y  &  thenth digit be x

The req. no. = 10x + y

A T Questn.

10x +y = 3(x+y)

10x + y =3x + 3y

7x = 2y              ----------------------- ( i )

If 45 is added then the no. is reversed.

10x + y +45 = 10y + x

9x + 45 = 9y

9( x + 5 ) = 9y

x + 5 = y          ----------------------- ( ii )

Put the value of y in eqtn. ( i )

Then, 7x = 2( x + 5 )

          7x = 2x + 10

          5x = 10

          x = 2

∴ 7 * 2 = 2y

14 = 2y

y = 7
