Define x:

Let x be the number of horses.

Number of men = x

Number of men on the ground = 1/2x

Find the number of horses:

Horses have 4 legs and men have 2 legs.

4x + 2(1/2 x) = 70

5x = 70

x = 14

Answer: There are 14 horses.

Answer:

Let no, of horses = no, of men = x

Then, no, of legs =4x + 2*(x/2) = 5x

So, 5x = 70

X = 14
