A certain number of matches are needed to fill 24 boxes, with each box containing the same number of matches. when 4 less matches are put into each box, there are enough for 28 boxes, find the total number of matches

If you take 4 less matches in each then in second situation no of matches will be 28(x-4).

But the no of matches in both cases is the same. So,

24x = 28(x-4)

24x = 28x - 112

x = 112/4 = 28
