A certain number of men can finish a piece of work in 100 days.if however there were 10 men less, it would take 10 days more for the work to be finished. How many men were there originally?

Let the no of men be 'x'.

x = 100
x- 10 = 90
now divide both conditions , :
x 100

x - 10 90
now cross multiply,
90 × x = 100 ( x - 10 )
90x = 100x - 1000
1000 = 100x - 90x
1000 = 10x
1000/10 = x
100 = x
hence , there were 100 men originally .
