A certain number of men can finish a piece of work in 50 days. If there are 7 more men, the work can be completed 10 days earlier .how many men were originally there .​

Let the original number of men be x

Given ,

X men can do a work in 50 days.

X+7 men can do a work in 10 days less.

Solution ,

50 days - 10 days = 40 days

X men can do a work in 50 days.

1 man can do a work in 50X days.

X+7 men can do a work in \dfrac{50X}{X+7}

Acc to question,

{\dfrac{50X}{X+7}}\: = \: 40

=> 40(X + 7) = 50X

=> 40X + 280 = 50X

=> 40X - 50X = -280

=> -10X = -280

(-) sign will be cancelled from both the sides.

=>\: X\: =\: {\dfrac{280}{10}}

=> X = 28.

Therefore, the number of men originally was 28 men.
