Given : A certain number of students can be arranged in groups of 3, 4, 6 or 8 with no student left behind.

To Find :  the number of students

Solution:

To find minimum number of students need to find

LCM ( 3 , 4 , 6 , 8)

3  = 3¹

4 = 2 * 2 = 2²

6 = 2 * 3 = 2¹ * 3¹

8 = 2 * 2 * 2 = 2³

LCM  - Least common multiplier of given numbers is the least number which is perfectly divisible by given numbers.

LCM = product of each factor  of highest power

LCM =  2³ * 3¹  = 8 * 3 = 24

Hence minimum number of students = 24

or students are multiple of 24
