Number of hours to construct a road in 24 days = 9 hours

Number of hours to construct a road in 1 day = 9 × 24 =216

Number of hours to construct a road in 6 days earlier (24 - 6= 18) =216 ÷ 18 = 12

So people have to work for 12 hours to complete the construction 6 days earlier
