Let the sum be 'x'.

Given that Sum of money amounts to (7/4) of itself.

Sum = (7/4) * x

       = (7x/4).

Time = 3 years.

∴ SI = (7x/4) - x

       = (7x - 4x)/4

       = 3x/4

∴ Rate = [(SI * 100)/P * T]

           = [3x * 100]/x * 3 * 4]

           = 25

Therefore, rate of interest = 25%.

Hope it helps!
